Jug of the Month - February

A Midwinter jug. The shape is Fine designed by the Marquis of Queensbury. The pattern is Kismet, designed by Joti Bhowmik and described in the Steven Jenkins book about Midwinter as ‘A border pattern of onion shaped motifs in brown, blue, orange and mustard.’ It was produced from 1968-1974.

The same pattern in blue, purple, green and mustard is called Bengal....

Clever Kiln

Fourth glaze firing went well. Not quite achieved the colours I need yet but getting there.

Third time lucky

My third glaze test firing was a success. No kiln failure. Fourth firing ready tomorrow. Here's hoping...

Still got it

The mould worked and the jug survived. So off to the plaster room for the first time in two years. Had to make a plaster collar to cuddle the rubbery mould so it keeps its shape when plaster is poured in. What a great mess I made of it all. Thank goodness I was surrounded by competent people. My own rescue squad.
