Spiers & Boden

Not sure if it is normal to stalk your musical heroes by giving them gifts of tableware. Must be some sort of law against it. J and I made these plates for Spiers &  Boden for their 10th anniversary. They show Bold Sir Rylas killing a spotted pig, and the wild-woman and her tree. And a hound.

Hope they like them. They don't look very sure...

Box of Circles

What am I going to do with all of these? Quite liking them in the box.

Putting It Off

Been avoiding this job because it seemed too difficult. Masking off a section of jug to glaze a white patch. Went in on Sunday and it took about an hour. Tsk. Should have got on with it a week ago. I'll fire these, then glaze the rest of the jug black and fire again. Then apply transfers over the white patch and fire once more. Got ages yet to get all that done...

I Spy

Found these pictures of mirrors being used for an I Spy book. Forget the jugs, I'm going to use creatures. Lions and tigers and bears. Photographs by Walter Wick. www.walterwick.com

Space

We're all running out of room. I'm packing things away in boxes as I finish them to try and fit everything on my shelf, but then I forget what I've made. Lots of improvisation going on, with boards balanced on stools to create more surface areas for working or shelving. It makes the room a bit hazardous to negotiate at times. Just over two weeks to go until we pack up and clear out of the studio, and then refreshingly new and different storage problems will begin. Fun.

Mirror Mirror

Playing with mirrors. Not there yet. Need bigger ones. And more of them.

Pleased

I'm pleased with these red and orange jugs. Especially the way the glaze peels away from the rim leaving the white edge. Bright and shiny.
