Smiths Row

Dropped in to Smiths Row in Bury St Edmunds. A really lovely shop and exhibition space. And four of my blue jugs on the counter. I was a bit excited and may have called out "I made those" and made people jump. Very pleased to be making some more jugs for Smiths Row at Christmas.

Jug of the Month - August

Gordon Whittle was my ceramics teacher at Trowbridge College when I did an evening class there. I was Acting Head at my school and that evening class kept me sane(ish). I'd turn up on a Tuesday and make for a few hours. Leave work on a shelf to be fired. Dip it in a bucket of glaze marked 'blue' and leave it on the shelf again. Then heave the heavy thing home. Mum had a stash of cork circles to stick on the bottom of the things I gave her to protect her woodwork. Wise.

Jiq Jaq Contemporary Art

Just sent 30 jugs to the Jiq Jaq gallery in Hampstead for their window. My pieces will accompany pigment prints by artist Marylin Koan in an exhibition called 'Magic in the Air and Other Imaginings', running from August 31st to October 9th. The gallery website is here...

Sewing

This piece of my sewing dates back to GSCE or before. Probably the last time I used a sewing machine.

Mackintosh Paintings

My painting from years ago on wall in mum's attic room.

Impractical Jugs

Customer at Frome Art Car Boot said that she loved my impractical jugs. So I'm getting T-Shirts printed and new business cards made. Jo Corbett - Impractical Jugs. In other news, M refuses to refer to this day as Frome Art Car Boot, preferring instead to talk about "the day in the car park". She looked very stylish in her summer frock holding onto the leg of our gazebo in those high winds. I
